LOWER MUSTANG SUMMIT SEEKER EXPEDITION

November 12 - 19, 2024

NEW FOR 2024

We created this trip just for mountain lovers seeking the ultimate Himalayan experience with considerations for time and budget. Space is limited, so don’t wait to sign up!

Our latest expedition was specifically created for travelers seeking the ultimate Himalayan experience within a shorter time frame. We may have trimmed off a couple of days from our longer outings, but we retained the full Nepali experience with this intense 8-day epic.

This isn’t a high mileage expedition as we spend as much time as we can exploring small roads and tiny villages in the world’s largest mountain range. We will spend a day riding in the foothills west of Pokhara before venturing into the world’s deepest gorge as we climb into the Lower Mustang Valley between two of the ten tallest summits on Earth.

We included a little of everything in this itinerary from the ancient palaces and temples of Kathmandu, to wandering roads in the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas. Since the autumn months offer the best mountain viewing weather, the Great Himalayas are an ever-present backdrop.

To maximize your comfort, this fully supported expedition includes a follow truck, expedition leader, lead guide, mechanic, and logistics officer. Each night we will stay in Nepal's best and most authentic hotels, lodges, and tea houses. This is big adventure in the style Far Xplorer is known for.

Like all of our trips, space is limited so book your spot today!

ROUTE OVERVIEW

Using Pokhara as our starting point, we spend the first day with a short ride within the Kaski district with beautiful valleys and hills set against Nepal’s famous adventure city. We then dive right into the Himalayas and the Mustang Valley. Once we pass between the 7th and 10th tallest mountains on Earth, we slow our pace to explore small villages and monasteries. Our high point at 12,000 feet is brief, but the views of the mountains is unbelievable to behold. Although our return route is mostly the same, it feels like a completely new route with all-new vistas. A short flight puts us back in Kathmandu to complete the journey.

HOTEL-ONLY ACCOMMODATIONS

We love to camp during our remote travels, but for this trip we stay in the most authentic and comfortable mountain lodges, tea houses, and hotels. Each of our hotel partners where chosen to offer authentic Nepali experiences while maximizing comfort and service. The trip package includes accommodations for every night, including hotels in Kathmandu for your arrival and departure.

FOUR AMAZING EXPERIENCES IN ONE EXPEDITION

  • KATHMANDU

It’s the ancient gateway to the Himalayas and profoundly exotic. Kathmandu is the starting point of every Far Xplorer journey and we get to experience it through the eyes of our award-winning cultural guide and Kathmandu native.

  • POKHARA

    POKHARA

Pokhara is best known as Nepal’s Adventure City. Situated on the shores of Fewa Lake and right under the soaring summit of Annapurna, it’s a beautiful and charming place to use as our start and end point.

  • SIVALIK FOOTHILLS

Few people realize the most magical stratum of the Himalayas are the massive foothills at their base. With millions of terraces, thousands of quaint villages, and endless roads to explore, it is the foothills that our travelers remember most about Nepal.

  • GREAT HIMALAYAS

The entire route offers endless vistas of the Great Himalayan mountains from various viewpoints. Our last day takes us within arm’s reach of Annapurna, one of Nepal’s most famous peaks.

  • Riders on this trip will need good off-road riding skills and confidence in variable conditions which include loose surfaces, steep slopes, and all the fun conditions of a Nepali road. At no time will you be on a road a local can’t traverse on a scooter.

  • To ensure maximum enjoyment, riders should have good fitness to help with proper acclimatization to altitude (9,000 feet). These are active days and good base fitness is essential.

  • Riders must be 18 years of age, hold a valid motorcycle license, and ideally you should obtain an international drivers license, which is very cheap and easy to obtain online.

And again - prior off-road riding experience and confidence in mixed terrain is a must.

  • We call our trips “expeditions” for a reason. Tours are scripted things with predictability part of the plan. We allow our trips to unfold organically as necessary and place the spirit of adventure far above the itinerary.

  • We spend this first day resting from long travels and visiting the sites of Kathmandu with our award-winning cultural guide

  • After a morning flight to Pokhara, we have time to hop on motorcycles to explore the area around Fewa Lake. It’s a beautiful intro into rural Nepal.

  • This is a big day on rugged roads to access the Himalayas. Our destination is Boksikola also known as Witch River.

  • This exciting ride explores local villages along small roads. We will even venture down footpaths and across small bridges to see quaint villages in the big peaks.

  • This is another exciting day as we push deep into the Himalayas to the sacred towns of Jarkot and Muktinath. We drop down to Kalopani to stay in our favorite hotel.

  • Another day in the mountains, this time going down, gives us all new views of the 7th and 10th tallest mountains on Earth. Our next destination is the hilltop camp near Annapurna.

  • One last ride delivers us back to Pokhara to our luxury resort.

  • After a relaxing morning by the lake we hop a quick flight back to Kathmandu to complete the circle.

  • Most flights do not depart Kathmandu until late in the day giving most people ample time to see more of the city and to shop for last minute souvenirs.
