LOWER MUSTANG SUMMIT SEEKER EXPEDITION
March 23-31, 2026
Our all-new expedition was specifically created for travelers seeking the ultimate Himalayan experience within a shorter time frame. We may have trimmed a couple of days from our longer outings, but still packed the full Nepali experience into this week-long adventure.
This isn’t a high mileage expedition as we spend as much time as we can exploring small roads and tiny villages in the world’s largest mountain range. We spend a full day riding in the foothills around Pokhara before venturing into the world’s deepest gorge as we climb into the Lower Mustang Valley between two of the ten tallest summits on Earth.
We included a little of everything in this itinerary from the ancient monastaries of Marpha and Kagbeni, to wandering roads in the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas.
For maximum comfort we spend each night in quaint traditional tea houses, lodges, and small hotels. Our staff for this excursion includes an expedition leader, guide, mechanic, field guide/cook, and driver for our support truck. This is big adventure with the uncompromising support we are known for.

ROUTE OVERVIEW
This adventure begins in Kathmandu, the famed gateway to the Himalayas. Our first explorations on day one take us deep into the city to visit many ancient temples, palaces, and shrines. The following day we board a 30-minute flight to our starting point in Nepal’s adventure capital - Pokhara. There we mount our motorbikes for the ride to our first mountain lodge. From there we venture deep into the Himalayas for the next several days. Our route takes us between the 7th and 10th tallest mountains on earth at nearly 27,000 feet tall. It’s a stunning route along one of the oldest trade routes in the world.
FOUR AMAZING EXPERIENCES IN ONE EXPEDITION
-
KATHMANDU
It’s the ancient gateway to the Himalayas and profoundly exotic. Kathmandu is the starting point of every Far Xplorer journey and we get to experience it through the eyes of our award-winning cultural guide and Kathmandu native.
-
POKHARA
Pokhara is best known as Nepal’s Adventure City. Situated on the shores of Fewa Lake and right under the soaring summit of Annapurna, it’s a beautiful and charming place to use as our start and end point.
-
SIVALIK FOOTHILLS
Few people realize the most magical stratum of the Himalayas are the massive foothills at their base. With millions of terraces, thousands of quaint villages, and endless roads to explore, it is the foothills that our travelers remember most about Nepal.
-
GREAT HIMALAYAS
The entire route offers endless vistas of the Great Himalayan mountains from various viewpoints. Our last day takes us within arm’s reach of Annapurna, one of Nepal’s most famous peaks.
FULLY GUIDED - FROM THE MINUTE YOU STEP OFF THE PLANE
For this expedition, we handle all of your travel logistics from the minute you step off the plane in Kathmandu until the day you head home. The trip fare includes all of your ground and air transfers once in Nepal. Let us handle everything so you can enjoy every minute afield.
ACCOMMODATIONS
-
HOTEL NOMAD-KATHMANDU
Our home base in Kathmandu for the start and end of the trip is the Nomad Hotel, centrally located near many attractions and conveniences.
-
HOLIDAY CAMP - MUSTANG
Newly opened in 2023, this is a quaint and authentic mountain lodge right under the summit of Dhaulagiri, a 27,000 foot peak in the Himalayas.
-
HOTEL KARUNA - POKHARA
Located right in the lake district of Pokhara, the Hotel Karuna was recently remodelled and makes for a great stay in Nepal’s adventure city.
-
Riders on this trip will need good off-road riding skills and confidence in variable conditions which include loose surfaces, steep slopes, and all the fun conditions of a Nepali road. This is a true off-road adventure.
-
To ensure maximum enjoyment, riders should have good fitness to help with proper acclimatization to altitude (9,000 feet). These are active days and good base fitness is essential.
-
Riders must be 18 years of age, hold a valid motorcycle license, and ideally you should obtain an international drivers license, which is very cheap and easy to obtain online.
And again - prior off-road riding experience and confidence in mixed terrain is a must. -
We call our trips “expeditions” for a reason. Tours are scripted things with predictability part of the plan. We allow our trips to unfold organically as necessary and place the spirit of adventure far above the itinerary.
ANNAPURNA - 26,650 feet tall. The 10th tallest mountain on earth.
