ENTERING NEPAL: Travel Visas, Entry Requirements, & Recommendations

The information below will help you prepare for your arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal. You can also review our Pre-departure Guide.

Tourist Visas (On-Arrival)

You can obtain your Tourist Visa when you arrive in Kathmandu at Tribhuvan International Airport. The process is a little slow, but otherwise easy. The fees are as folllow:

  • 15 - Day visa - $30

  • 30 - Day visa - $50

  • 90 - Day visa - $100

To streamline the process, the week before your arrival, you can complete the Online Visa Application, print off the visa document, then present that at the airport when you arrive. It can save you 30-45 minutes standing in line at a computer in the airport. Do not complete this step more than one week out from your arrival.

If you have questions about visa requirements, visit the Nepal Immigration website: https://www.immigration.gov.np/page/visa-on-arrival

IMPORTANT: You must have 6-months validity on your passport beyond your date of departure from Kathmandu. Failure to have that validity will prevent you from boarding your first flight to Nepal. You must also have at least one blank page available in your passport.

Covid-19 and other Vaccinations

There are no requirements for vaccinations or other health related documentations

Transiting Through Other Countries

If you plan to travel through another country, and depart the airport, you MUST REVIEW THE VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR THOSE COUNTRIES. This is particularly necessary for India and China.
