Kathmandu - Early Arrivals & Extended Stays

Many of our travelers opt to arrive in Kathmandu early, before the official trip dates, to explore the dozens of great attractions in Nepal’s capital city. Others extend their stays at the end of the trip to explore more of Nepal. This guide will help you book the necessary hotels, offer ideas of what to do with your bonus days, and maximize your time in Nepal.

EARLY ARRIVALS IN KATHMANDU

Our home in Kathmandu - The Nomad Hotel

If you are arriving early and would like to reserve a room at our host hotel, you can book directly through their website, or third-party resources like Booking.com. Rates will vary depending on the season.

If you would like suggestions for other hotels in Kathmandu to fit a certain budget, location, or any other variable, please contact Deana, our operations manager. deana@farxplorer.com

If you reach Kathmandu on the official arrival date of your trip a Far Xplorer team member will be at the airport to greet you and transfer you to the Hotel Nomad.

If you arrive early you will need to arrange for your own hotel transfer, but do not worry, it’s very inexpensive and super easy.

Those to arrive early will then need to meet their Far Xplorer expedition leader at the Hotel Nomad on the official arrival date, where your hotel room will be ready for you.

EXTRA DAYS IN NEPAL

Almost all of our excursions culminate in Pokhara, a beautiful and peaceful mini-city on the shores of Lake Fewa. Nestled below the Himalayas, it’s a great place to unwind from a big trip.

Many travelers elect to spend an extra day or two in Pokhara to sit by a pool, rent a motorcycle for local forays into the nearby hills, or paddle on the lake. There’s lots to do in Pokhara and dozens of great hotels.

If you would like to spend your extra days in Pokhara, or want ideas for what to do with extra days, please contact Deana: deana@farxplorer.
